Boon Burger, Winnipeg M.B
Instead of patties made from different cuts of meat, their choice of burgers includes chickpea, mushroom or bean based patties, topped off with or without vegan "cheeze" or "bacun". Above is the My Big Fat Greek Burger, made with a grilled chickpea and brown rice patty, cheeze, bacun, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, cucumbers, olive tapenade, tzatziki, guacamole and Boon Burger's house dressing.
A point of pride and joy in Winnipeg's up-and-coming neighbourhood Wolseley is Boon Burger -a completely vegan burger shop that is 100% cruelty-free and one of the few of the city's businesses that are part of the zero waste movement.
Moreover, their menu offers up a vegan option for everything you'd find at any other burger shop. Including soft serve, bacon cheeseburgers, chili, and yes even poutine to cure your cravings.
The dining space itself is small but incredibly charming with decor that reflects their cruelty-free values - chalkboard illustrations of veggies on the wall, green grass-like shag covered benches and a large bovine photograph in black and white.
Luckily, Boon Burger has quickly expanded on it's Winnipeg roots and now has three new locations in Barrie, Burlington and Guelph, Ontario.
